Importance of Completing a Fire Warden Course
Fire wardens are individuals who are given the task of overseeing fire safety among different places and situations. They are nevertheless required to act responsibly and efficiently during a fire emergency. Here are some of the known principal duties of a fire warden:

· Takes appropriate, fast, and efficient action once a fire is detected.
· Fights fire if safe to do so.
· Identifies fire hazards at home, workplace, parks, or other places commonly frequented by people.
· Makes sure that escape routes are easily accessible.
· Ensures an alarm is raised when a fire is seen and updates and verifies the alarm level.
· Helps in evacuating people from areas of risk to a safer place.
· Helps assist disabled people.
· Records and reports their observations and findings.

Aspiring fire wardens are required to undergo a formal course or a training to achieve certification to be able to eligibly work as a designated fire warden. There are many institutions today that offer health and safety training and fire warden training courses. You can learn more about these programs at www.ihasco.co.uk.

Anyone who wants to be knowledgeable in fire safety and handling fire extinguishers can actually enroll on the training. You can never really know where or when these types of information and knowledge come in handy.

Fire warden courses and trainings offer general fire precautions and regulations. Here is a summary of what to expect to learn in a fire warden course and training:

1. Understand fire
This includes the study of the fire chemistry, its behavior, capabilities, and weaknesses. These constitute the basic foundation of knowledge of a fire warden to be efficient in firefighting.
2. The common causes of fire and what to do.
Know whether the cause of fire is electrical, spontaneous ignition, incendiarism or arson, static electricity, open flames, liquefied petroleum gas, fireworks, or even as simple as smoking. With these many known and common causes, a different approach should be undertaken with each type.
3. The role of a fire warden.
The duties of a fire warden vary by the working environment. They are usually the ones responsible making sure fire safety laws are met in the workplace.
4. Fire safety regulation and precautions.
These are practiced to prevent and reduce any likelihood of fire that can result in unwanted damages, injuries, and even death.
5. Fire detection and warning.
Early detection is critical in fighting fire and saving lives.
6. The various ways of escaping a fire.
Buildings are strategically designed to have fire exits. However, in tight situations, fire wardens should know other ways to let people escape.
7. Fire drills and evacuation.
These are usually done in every building and school to keep people aware. Fire wardens usually guide fire drills.

Body Jewellery - For a Trendy, Chic Look
Human beings have long adorned themselves with tattoos and body piercings. The art of getting body jewellery dates back to as early as 700 A.D., when the Mayans have been known to practice piercing of the ear, lip, cheek, and nose. Body piercing and body jewellery are a means of expressing beliefs or catering to popular traditions among various disparate cultures across the world.

Today, we are witnessing a rising popularity of this trend as more and more youngsters are getting their bodies pierced in the need to exhibit their individuality and personal style. No doubt, this phenomenon is ruling even the big screen! Though in the earlier times piercing was considered to be a sign of womanhood and feminism, nowadays piercing and body jewellery is not restricted to just females. An increasing number of men are also getting their bodies pierced. In fact, the first person to get the tongue pierced was an American man!

Some of the most common body parts that are pierced and can be used to display body jewellery include nostrils, septum, ears, tongue, belly button and eyebrows; though extremely sensitive parts of the body, including the nipples and genitals, are also becoming exceedingly popular among the young generation. If you are looking for body jewellery, you can visit: www.bodymattersgold.com

However, when it comes to body jewellery, there are a lot of factors that need to be considered. First of all, it is important to get an allergy test done to ensure that the consequences of the choice of getting body piercing are not harmful. Jewellery made using diamonds, nickel free yellow gold, white gold, sterling silver, stainless steel, palladium, platinum, and even glass is considered to be ideal as they are all completely hypoallergenic.

The biocompatible characteristics of glass make it an ultra compatible material for implantation and for body jewellery wear. Titanium is also greatly preferred for making body jewellery because it has excellent biocompatibility and is half the weight of surgical steel, causing a minimum amount of movement stress on the piercing. Titanium can also be anodised, enabling manufacturers to play with different colours in order to offer unique and stylish designs to their customers.

Second, it is important to take into consideration one’s profession and lifestyle to determine the suitability of a particular kind of piercing. For example, some professionals, such as athletes and sportsmen, cannot go for piercing as it may be dangerous or harmful for them. It is a good idea to consult a professional piercer in this matter before opting for a certain kind of body piercing or jewellery.

The chemical properties of the body jewellery should be such that no harm is caused to the skin or any internal part of the body. Style and safety should go hand in hand. It should not only be biocompatible, but also have an extremely smooth surface and high chemical stability. It is also essential for the jewellery to have a protective coating (such as a thick oxide film) to prevent it from corrosion and rusting. The jewellery has to rank very high in strength and durability in order to fare well.

Body piercing jewellery needs to be highly polished for physiological acceptance and decorative effect. Body piercing can be fun and exciting! If chosen carefully and with due consideration to the above mentioned factors, one cannot go wrong with body jewellery. High quality and innovative body jewellery pieces enable individuals to experience uniqueness and exclusivity in an otherwise alike world!

This post has been written in association with Body Matters Gold, one of the leading creators of unique and innovative body jewellery. Their wide expertise in this domain makes them a name to reckon with. How to Choose The Cue That Works Best for You

As any snooker or pool player would vouch for, cues are one of the most important elements while playing a match! Every individual snooker player needs his personal cue to develop his abilities in this game. There are several types of cues available, and one can choose them according to the needs, requirements, skill level, etc. However, it is not very difficult to find the ideal cue for you if you know what to look for!

The first thing that you need to understand is that the cues required for playing snooker are different from the ones required to play pool. Though both these sports look quite similar, they are widely different; snooker requires more skill because the balls are smaller and heavier, the table is larger, the pockets are narrower, and the pocket lead-in is also curved.

The snooker cues are available in various forms that include 1 piece snooker cues (which uses a single piece of timber), 2 piece snooker cues (which has a single joint at the halfway point) and 3/4 jointed snooker cues (which are jointed three quarters of the way from the tip) and special short or junior cues measuring 36 to 54 inches.

Traditional Pool Cues, popularly also known as UK pool and 8-ball pool, have a very similar specification to snooker cues except for a smaller tip (around 8 to 9 mm on average) and the different configuration of joints (such as short butts and 4/5 jointed cues). The 8 ball cue is available in a wide selection of designs and styles. Some of the most popular 8 ball cues include Mirage Short Butt English Pool Cue, Peradon Saturn 3/4 Jointed 8 Ball Pool Cue with Mini Butt, Galaxy 8 Ball Pool Cue, Storm 8 Ball Pool Cue, and Meteor 8 Ball Pool Cue. For more information on 8 ball cues, visit: www.cuepower.co.uk

It is very important to choose the right type of wood for you. Generally, Ash and Maple are used to make cues. Ash wood is mainly used for snooker cues; it is tougher and exhibits dark grain lines. On the other hand, Maple wood is mainly used for pool cues and exhibits tighter grain lines. You also need to choose the correct weight, as snooker cues are available in three different weights; 17, 18, and 19 ounces. You should opt for any one of them depending upon your skill level; the heavier it is, the more advanced level player you should be.

Standard cues are anywhere between 57 - 58 inches long. To find the correct cue length for you, you should determine the height to which the cue reaches on being held upright, with the tip pointing upwards. The cue should ideally reach just below your shoulder. You should also thoughtfully consider buying the right size of cue tip in order to perform really well, as it is the only partwhich directly interacts with the ball! Generally, tip sizes for snooker cues are between 8 – 10 mm and pool cues are between 10 – 13 mm.

However, just buying the right cue is not enough if you want to improve your game. You need to take proper care of your cues in order to prevent any kind of damage to them. They should always be kept dry and away from heaters and radiators. Proper attention should be paid to keep them free of chalk dust, as it might stain the shaft and discolour the tip of the cue in the long term. The cues need to be handled well and should ideally be stored in cue racks or a cue case.

This post is written in association with Cuepower. They provide snooker and pool players with high quality products for every level of ability and budget. Staffed with great enthusiasts of these sports, they also help players to select the perfect cue, case and other accessories.
